Kennedy Agyapong Claims God Has Chosen Him To Lead NPP As Flagbearer

Kennedy Agyapong, the outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has made a bold declaration that he is the one God has chosen to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections. He said his position as number one on the ballot for the November primaries shows that God has ordained him to lead the ruling party into the next polls.

Kennedy Agyapong, who is one of the four contenders for the NPP flagbearership slot, made this statement on September 14, 2023, after balloting for his position on the ballot paper. He expressed the belief that being drawn number one on the ballot for the second successive time was a clear indication from God that he should be entrusted with the mantle of leadership.

He noted that this divine message is apparent to anyone who subscribes to biblical wisdom. "It is clear that I am the person God has chosen to lead the NPP. If you believe in the Bible… because everywhere I go, Kennedy Agyapong is number one. It is a clear indication that I should be given a chance to lead this country," he said.

He highlighted that he drew the number one spot in the super delegates' election and has once again drawn number one in the upcoming party congress. These occurrences, he believes, offer undeniable proof of his presidential destiny. "The signs are clearly on the wall that if you vote for Kennedy Agyapong, he will definitely lead this country and break the eight," he added.

Kennedy Agyapong also stated that he will not step down from the race for any other candidate, as some rumours have suggested. He said he is determined to go the full haul and is prepared to accept the outcome, regardless of who emerges as the winner. He added that the unity of the NPP going into the 2024 general elections will depend on how the flagbearer primaries are organized and how they treat all the aspirants fairly.

Kennedy Agyapong will face off with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister for Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong Francis Addai Nimo in the November 4 primaries. The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party.

Kennedy Agyapong is known for his controversial and outspoken views on various national issues. He is also a successful businessman and philanthropist who owns several media outlets and businesses in Ghana. He has been an MP since 2000 and has served on various parliamentary committees. He is also a staunch supporter of President Akufo-Addo and his policies.

The NPP flagbearership race has generated a lot of interest and debate among party members and supporters, as well as political observers and analysts. The outcome of the primaries will have a significant impact on the fortunes of the party in the 2024 general elections, which are expected to be highly competitive and unpredictable.
