Agri-Impact Limited is leading a multi-partner consortium to implement a 4-year agriculture /agribusiness initiative christened Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY). The inclusive multi-disciplinary interventions to be rolled out is expected to drive shared prosperity in Ghana by creating, sustaining, or improving 320,000 dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for economically disadvantaged youth (70% women) and differently abled persons in selected communities across 10 regions. The project targets to increase production and productivity of rice, soyabean and tomatoes by 250,000MT and poultry by 13,000MT in four years generating over $300 million annually after 2028.


HAPPY is ambitious and transformational in its focus on attracting and capacitating the unemployed and disadvantaged youth into agriculture not only to help speed up the rate of growth in the targeted value chains, but also contribute meaningfully to the problem of youth unemployment and poverty relief for their households and communities. HAPPY will focus on improvement in primary and secondary value addition, enterprise and business development services, SME support, sustained market access, job facilitation and placement. The project will leverage technology and climate smart adaptation strategies and ensure inclusive utilisation. AIL therefore requires additional qualified persons to fill up the position above.


Job summary

AIL requires a detail-oriented accountant to manage all financial transactions, budgets, cashflow management and provide quantitative information on financial position whiles ensuring the company is tax compliant on an inclusive multi-partner consortium implementation of a 4-year "Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity (HAPPY)" project that aims to increase agricultural productivity, value addition and create 320,000 jobs for youth and women along 4 agricultural value chain.


The accountant will provide quantitative information on financial position, liquidating and cashflow management whiles ensuring the company is compliant with all tax regulations.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Perform and generate financial reports and analysis.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities.
  • Accurate and timely record keeping of financial transactions.
  • Processing Statutory payments and returns.
  • Manage and reconcile bank accounts and balances on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely bank payments.
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
  • Maintain and organize accounting filing system.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and financial policies and regulations.
  • Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the finance director.
  • Reconcile and close-out project bank accounts.


Required skills or experience

  • BSc. or HND Accounting or Finance, Professional qualification in ICAG or ACCA is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Ghanaian tax laws and standard practices
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience as an Accountant; experience in managing agri-projects is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the IFRS
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to financial integrity.
  • Proven experience demonstrating mastery of computerized accounting systems, accounting software (Tally) and proficiency in Microsoft Suite Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and stakeholder collaboration.
