Agri-Impact Limited is leading a multi-partner consortium to implement a 4-year agriculture /agribusiness initiative christened Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY). The inclusive multi-disciplinary interventions to be rolled out is expected to drive shared prosperity in Ghana by creating, sustaining, or improving 320,000 dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for economically disadvantaged youth (70% women) and differently abled persons in selected communities across 10 regions. The project targets to increase production and productivity of rice, soyabean and tomatoes by 250,000MT and poultry by 13,000MT in four years generating over $300 million annually after 2028.

HAPPY is ambitious and transformational in its focus on attracting and capacitating the unemployed and disadvantaged youth into agriculture not only to help speed up the rate of growth in the targeted value chains, but also contribute meaningfully to the problem of youth unemployment and poverty relief for their households and communities. HAPPY will focus on improvement in primary and secondary value addition, enterprise and business development services, SME support, sustained market access, job facilitation and placement. The project will leverage technology and climate smart adaptation strategies and ensure inclusive utilisation.



Job summary

The Account Officer will work closely with the Accountant and Director of Finance to review invoices and receipts, capturing them in financial systems. He/She will manage local accounts payable, ensure compliance, and accurately record financial information in Microsoft Excel. Account Officers will keep precise records of incoming and outgoing payments for an organization. This may include arranging payment requests, making payments for services, verifying accounts payable and receivable, and researching financial account activity, among other duties.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure vendor bills are raised, and payments made on timely basis.
  • Day-to-day bank and cash management – prepare cheques, lodge them in the bank.
  • Track organization expenses and processing refunds.
  • Cross-check invoices with payments and expenses to ensure accuracy.
  • Managing the company’s accounts payable and receivable.
  • Communicating with clients regarding billing and payments.
  • Review outstanding checks and payments in transit, e.g rent, services and utilities payments, review local payroll tax obligations and VAT accruals.
  • Verify all invoices and ensure careful management and oversight of invoices balances. Ensure all supporting documents are received and correct.
  • Study programs activities and budget and obtain relevant market information to ensure procurement of quality goods.
  • Receive requests for logistics from Team Leads and compare with budgetary allocations.
  • Ensure maximum compliance of tax laws, especially with withholding taxes in all purchases.
  • File payment vouchers and receipts and keep soft copies of all payments and receipts using Excel or any accounting software.
  • Work closely with the accountant and auditor by assembling and providing all necessary financial documents and information for auditing.


Required skills or experience

  • BSc. or HND Accounting with at least 3 years work experience in similar role.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and record keeping.
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • Excellent organisational skills regarding documentation, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, strong work ethics and trustworthy operations.
  • Strong verbal and visual financial reporting skills.
