Agri-Impact Limited is leading a multi-partner consortium to implement a 4-year agriculture /agribusiness initiative christened Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY). The inclusive multi-disciplinary interventions to be rolled out is expected to drive shared prosperity in Ghana by creating, sustaining, or improving 320,000 dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for economically-disadvantaged youth (70% women) and differently abled persons in selected communities across 10 regions. The project targets to increase production and productivity of rice, soyabean and tomatoes by 250,000MT and poultry by 13,000MT in four years generating over $300 million annually after 2028.


HAPPY is ambitious and transformational in its focus on attracting and capacitating the unemployed and disadvantaged youth into agriculture not only to help speed up the rate of growth in the targeted value chains, but also contribute meaningfully to the problem of youth unemployment and poverty relief for their households and communities. HAPPY will focus on improvement in primary and secondary value addition, enterprise and business development services, SME support, sustained market access, job facilitation and placement. The project will leverage technology and climate smart adaptation strategies and ensure inclusive utilisation.

Job summary

Agri-Impact Limited is seeking to recruit Zonal Value Chain Coordinators to support operationalisation of an inclusive multi-partner consortium implementation of a 4-year "Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity (HAPPY)" project that aims to increase agriculture productivity, value addition and the creation of 320,000 jobs for youth and women in Ghana. The Zonal Value Chain Coordinators (ZVCC) will collaboratively work with the implementing partners to ensure implementation of work plans, provide technical backstopping and support partners provide necessary logistics to participating youth and comply with environmental safeguarding and disability inclusive measures.


The Coordinators will raise risk and red flags early enough for redress and perform M&E functions. The Coordinators will facilitate Technical Committee meetings, engage other relevant stakeholders whose participation will smoothen the operations of the partners in target value chains and zones. They will act as intermediaries between Implementing Partners on the field and Agri-Impact Management team ensuring that they adhere to environmental, gender, safeguarding and disability inclusive measures.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work plan of the Value Chain Implementing Partners in participating regions and provide operational guidance as and when needed.
  • Facilitate collaboration, communication, and information sharing among stakeholders in the value chain, establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, financial institutions, industry associations, research institutions, and other relevant organisations to leverage resources to promote zonal value chain development.

  • Identify market opportunities for youth beneficiaries and facilitate their access to potential buyers, negotiate favourable terms and contracts between youth beneficiaries and offtakers to ensure fair and transparent relationships and reducing market information asymmetry.
  • Assist Implementing Partners to manage various risks associated with production, including weather-related risks, crop diseases, market volatility, and price fluctuations and provide risk mitigation measures.
  • Facilitate and coordinate with Implementing Partners to provide the necessary technical knowledge, information, and training on best agricultural practices, pest management, climate-smart techniques, and other relevant information to participating youth to enhance productivity.
  • Ensure and support Implementing Partners to provide the necessary logistics to participating youth, adhering to environmental, gender and safeguarding measures.
  • Work closely with local organisations involved in Differently Abled Persons (DAPs) and ensure inclusivity of such persons in the project.
  • Assist in zonal value chain data collection and analysis.
  • Document best practices, project impact and lessons learnt.
  • Provide progress and quarterly project reports to Enterprise Development Director and the HAPPY Project Lead of Agri‐Impact Limited.

Required skills or experience

  • MSc. or BSc. Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agric Engineering, Rural Development or related fields
  • Understanding and knowledge of agricultural value chains
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing multi-stakeholder agro-value chain projects, promotion of youth, women and differently abled persons in agribusiness
  • Experience in the promotion and support of women’s economic participation and empowerment,
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of agricultural development programmes
  • Excellent communication, coordination and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with experience using relevant software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Duty station will be in designated zones and may demand traveling within the zone
